The beach
Cala Pregonda is a beautiful cove of golden sand in the municipality of es Mercadal. It is accessed by a simple journey along the Camí de Cavalls parking in Binimella. It is an area where a regeneration of dune systems is carried out, so you should not step on the cordoned off area.
Notes
There is an islet in front with a small beach where lots of swimmers go. Highly recommended cove. Fishing is permitted with limitations, but the underwater one is prohibited. How to get there
- 1From Es Mercadal
It is preferable to access El Mercadal from the easternmost roundabout, from the first we find from Mahón, as at these roundabouts we will see signs to the 'playas' (beaches). Just surround Es Mercadal on the East side, by the roundabouts, until you reach Camí de Tramontana.
- 2Camí deTramontana
We will continue along the paved road; at the junctions we will see signs to the different northern beaches. In our case,we will continue towards Binimel.la.
- 3Detour towards Pegonda or Binimel.la
We will get to a detour, a very wide and gravel road with signs indicating " Pregonda y Platja de Binimel.la". After 1,5 km we will reach the restaurant near Binimel.la where there is space for half a hundred cars on the road verges.
- 4Camí de Cavalls
Once the car is parked we have to head to Binimel.la Beach and continue to the left. Go past Cales Morts, reach Pregondó and after 25 minutes we will reach Cala Pregonda from the parking. Betwen Pregondó and Pregonda there is a small hill.
