The beaches and coves of the Balearic Islands are some of the few places in the world where there is respect for the clothing each person chooses to wear. Nudism is a freedom we can exercise, and it is protected by several articles of the Spanish Constitution, the basis of our legislation. No regional rule may go against it.

Beaches do not have to be classified as nudist. All of them are public, and everyone can wear the clothes they want, as long as they respect the people around them. Nudism is not usually practised on the most touristy beaches. Even so, women in topless are a common sight, something quite normal in our country but not in others, such as the United States, where it is prohibited.

On Disfruta la playa

On disfrutalaplaya we have marked the swimming places where there are usually naked people. We want to make it clear that it is a freedom, not an obligation, and that on our beaches and coves there is mutual respect: people in swimwear and people who prefer to go without it share the same places.

Majorca, Ibiza and Formentera

Ibiza and Formentera are two islands where nudism is common on practically all their beaches; the most touristy ones are usually avoided. On Majorca it is also widely practised, although these beaches and coves are harder to find. They are incredible places in their own right, such as the unspoilt beach of Es Trenc, Es Caragol, Caló d'es Moro and the beach of Llucalcari.

Naturism and nudism

People who practise nudity follow naturism or nudism, two very similar outlooks. Naturism is a way of living in harmony with nature, based on communal nudity in order to encourage respect for oneself, for others and for the environment. Nudism simply means being without clothes in a public place. For disfrutalaplaya, that means beaches and coves.
